Field of Play

Playing Season

* The Fall/Winter season will run from August to November. However, the league reserves the right to extend into December if deemed necessary.

*Spring season runs mid April to end of June 

* Indoor season runs Jan – April at Cheam Centre

Fields

•          Townsend Fields B and C

•          Fields will be booked within the City of Chilliwack through the Parks and Recreational Department and other booking agents if available;

•          The Chilliwack Women’s Recreational Soccer League is obligated to uphold and respect the rules and policies of the field owners;

•          The Chilliwack Women’s Recreational Soccer League is obligated to ensure that even in inclement weather and fields being open to ensure that fields are not damaged as a result of games being played when fields are unplayable;

•          No games shall be played if there is standing water anywhere on the field. 

Match Day Responsibilities

•          The league will be responsible for all field lining.

•          The league will provide each team with a net and set of corner flags.

•          Teams will be responsible for the following:

o First game of the day

▪      Hanging nets;

▪      Setting up corner flags; o

▪      Second game of the day: Bringing their net and corner flags to the game to give to teams from the first game;

▪      Taking down nets; ▪    Taking down corner flags.

Game and Training Ball

•          All games are to be played with a size 5 game ball;

•          Each team is responsible for providing their own game and training balls; 

Level of Play

•          The Chilliwack Women’s Recreational Soccer League is a recreational soccer league that provides competitive play for all who participate. The league reserves the right to tier and or group teams based on ability to create a better playing environment.

•          We follow FIFA rules except for slide tackling

•          New league motto: “If wearing a brace give them space” lol  

Player Registration

1.       Players are considered to be registered when the following conditions are met:

o        The player has completed the league waiver acknowledgement and submitted registration with picture on the website

o        They paid their designated team fees in full.

2.       Players may only play for one team at a time during our spring, fall and indoor seasons

3.       All Players and staff must also be in good standings with our neighboring leagues in order to participate in CWSL

Player Minimum Age

•          The minimum age of players is 30;

•          To be eligible the player must be turning 30 by end of the playing season;

•          Registering or playing a player who does not meet the age requirements of the league or division in which they play may result in a fine, forfeit of matches, forfeiture fine(s), suspension of the player and/or team official;

•          Proof of age may be required of all players at the time of registration. Valid proofs of age are driver’s license, BC ID card, birth certificate, or passport.

•          The league reserves the right to request proof of age at any point during the playing season.

Team Rosters

•          The minimum roster size is 15 registered players for fall and maximum 24

•          The minimum roster size is 10 registered players for spring and maximum 18

Playing/Registering of Ineligible Players

•          Any ineligible player may be subject to suspension, a fine, and possible removal from the league.

•          Any team that knowingly plays a player not registered with the team and or is registered with another team, may be subject to team captain suspension, a fine, team bond, and possible expulsion from the league.

•          If you have fewer than 8 for fall, 6 for spring attending a game, u may find players from our sub list which is available on the website

Player Equipment

•          Jerseys o All player jerseys must be of the same color; o No duplicate numbers are permitted; o Players are not permitted to share a jersey in the same match; o in the event of a color conflict the home team will change colors/wear pinnies.

•          Shin Guards o All players are required to wear shin guards. There are no exceptions.

• Jewlery

o All jewelry must try to be removed – taping of jewelry is permitted if you absolutely can’t remove it but it is at your own risk with the exception of a medical alert bracelet. No rings, bracelets or necklaces, if wearing smart watch cover with sweat band

• Medical Braces and Casts o All medical braces and casts must be covered with a protective shield.

Match Officials

•          The league is responsible for the booking and pay of the game official;

•          In the event that a game official does show for their assigned game, the game is to proceed with each team taking a turn refereeing the game. It is recommended that each team does one half of the game unless there is mutual agreement between the two teams on an alternate format or replacement official.

•          Each team is to try offer a volunteer game official to show when the ball leaves the field of play.

Game Duration  

•          All matches will have two (2) forty-five (45) minute halves with a five (5) minute break in between. There may be extenuating circumstances that prevent the two (2) full forty-five (45) minute halves being played; this is the only time there may be a deviation to the match length.

•          For Spring (2) 30 min halves with 5 min break in between 

Score Reporting

•          The winning team is responsible for reporting the score.

•          The match official will have final say in the match score if there is any dispute.

Standings

•          The following system will determine league standings:

o        Win – 3 points  o Tie – 1 point  o Loss - 0 points

•          In the event of a tie the following will be used to determine the placement for standings o Goals For o Goals Against  o Goals Against per game

o        If still unable to determine a winner, the league may schedule a playoff game between the two teams in question. In the event this happens, two (2) forty-five minute halves will be played and if tied at the end of the game, two (2) twenty minute extra time halves will be played, and if still tied, penalty shots will take place.

Team and Team Supporter Conduct

•          The team captain is ultimately responsible for all team and team supporter conduct.

•          Any Harassment, bullying, name calling, intimidation tactics will not be tolerated against any and all players, staff, or spectators and could be met with disciplinary action

League Schedule

•          The league will provide each team with a match schedule;

•          All teams will play the designated match schedule unless notified otherwise by the league;

•          If matches are not played due to inclement weather or circumstances beyond the league’s control those games will not be rescheduled;

•          Should any team not be able to play a scheduled game the following must occur:

▪      The team unable to play forfeits the game. A score of 1-0 will be recorded; ▪   Notification via email or text must be sent to the league and opposition captain. It is encouraged that a follow up phone call also takes place with both stakeholders.

▪      U may also post on our leagues facebook page but after the league officials are notified

Discipline

In the event that the league must levy discipline towards a team, a player, or a team official, the league will strike an independent committee that will investigate the matter and make recommendation to the league on what sanctions should be levied, using the BC Soccer Discipline Policy as it’s guide.

2 yellow cards is an automatic red card

Red card receives a 2-game suspension
